Herron Hoops

Brunswick hosted another memorable day of basketball on December 23 as the Herron Holiday Hoops Classic returned to our gym with five varsity matchups and a packed holiday-week atmosphere.

Herron Hoops is a tradition we hold each year in remembrance of Josh Herron and to celebrate everything that’s great about high school basketball…competition, community, and the connections the game creates. As the memory of Josh reminds us, everyone participating in Herron Hoops was there to "Win the Day"! It’s also a day where our program and community come together to welcome teams from across Northeast Ohio and create an environment that feels a little bigger than a typical regular-season night.

A huge thank you to our event sponsors, Brunswick Pearl Rd Dairy Queen and City Barbecue, for supporting Brunswick Athletics and helping make this day possible. Each game throughout the day featured half time entertainment where fans got to attempt a half-court shot, with every make winning free DQ. And City Barbecue treated all coaches, administrators, and media members to a delicious hospitality room throughout the day.

Game Results & Top Performers

Game 1: Keystone 69, Walsh Jesuit 52
Keystone opened the day with a strong all-around performance. Colt Cowing (Keystone) led all scorers with 21 points, while J.P. McMullin (Walsh Jesuit) paced the Warriors with 18 points.

Game 2: North Ridgeville 69, Buckeye 48
North Ridgeville jumped out early and never looked back. Cole Miller (North Ridgeville) finished with 19 points and earned game MVP recognition, while Turner Dolata (Buckeye) scored 22 points and brought home the MVP award for the Bucks.

Game 3: Medina 50, North Royalton 43
A physical, back-and-forth matchup went Medina’s way late. Nolan Klingbeil (North Royalton) scored 17, and Ryan Harubin (Medina) had 15. Both were recognized as MVPs for their teams in event coverage.

Game 4: St. Edward 83, Berea-Midpark 62
St. Edward pulled away in the second half behind big nights from Bryan Vlosich (27) and Zymir Knox (22). Berea-Midpark was led by Tyson Clay (22) and Reece (15), with Braaten (11) also in double figures.

Game 5: Brunswick 91, Rhodes 73
Brunswick closed the day with a high-scoring win over a talented Rhodes group. Sean Barnett led the Blue Devils with 32 points, and Trey Drexler added 24. Rhodes was led by Jahavi Dye with 17 points. Barnett captured the MVP award for the Devils for the second year in a row at the Herron Hoops Classic.

Brunswick Athletics would like to thank all of the teams who participated in this year’s Herron Hoops event for bringing great competition and sportsmanship to our gym. We are also grateful to our sponsors, Brunswick Pearl Rd Dairy Queen and City Barbecue, along with the officials, table crews, event staff, and volunteers who worked throughout the day to ensure everything ran smoothly. Events like Herron Hoops are only possible because of the support of our school and community, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to Brunswick High School again next year for another great day of basketball.
