Brunswick, Ohio -- The Brunswick High School Men’s Soccer Team earned its biggest result of the young season on Saturday night, defeating state ranked #3 Ashland by a score of 1–0 at Brunswick Auto Mart Stadium. The win lifts Brunswick to 1–0–3 and secures the program’s third consecutive clean sheet, while handing the Arrows their first loss of 2026.

The match’s decisive moment came with 19:15 remaining in the first half, when junior midfielder Tyler Bradbury rose above the pack and powered home a towering header off a corner kick delivered by senior captain Brayden Oleksiw. Bradbury’s finish beat Ashland goalkeeper Ward Schaaf and sent the home crowd into celebration.

From there, Brunswick’s team defending took over. The Blue Devils were brilliant across all lines, with standout performances from Ryan Dick, Charlie Avarello, Evan Denker, Brayden Oleksiw, senior Collin Perlatti, and Ethan Keller. Their collective organization, discipline, and physical commitment frustrated one of Ohio’s most explosive attacks.

Senior goalkeeper Artur Vasylkevych delivered one of the finest goalkeeping performances the program has seen in years, earning Man of the Match honors. Vasylkevych recorded 10 saves, including a remarkable double stop in the first half — first denying a powerful header from Gary George off a corner, then immediately turning away the follow up strike from Luke Lavengood to keep the Arrows off the scoresheet.

Brunswick generated strong attacking moments of its own, outshooting Ashland 18–14, including an 11–10 advantage in shots on frame. Both teams finished with four corner kicks.

Head Coach Ben Dotson praised his team’s resilience and Vasylkevych’s brilliance:

“We overcame a lot of adversity tonight. We were without our starting attacking midfielder Adam Jaber, our pacey forward Logan Evans, and our freshman phenom Anthony Paul. Jaber tweaked an injury in warm up, and suddenly we were asking guys to step into different and new positions. But they embraced it, they stepped up, and they found a way to win. And Artur was absolutely brilliant tonight. That was one of the finest goalkeeping performances I have seen from us in a really long time.”

The victory marks a statement result for the Blue Devils, who topple one of the state’s top teams according to MaxPreps.com and continue to build momentum behind their defensive identity.

Brunswick returns to action on Tuesday night, hosting Mentor in the GCC curtain riser at Brunswick Auto Mart Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
