Brunswick Athletics Partners with MCORE Foundation to Offer Cardiac Screenings for Students


At Brunswick Athletics, the health and safety of our student-athletes remains our highest priority. We are excited to once again partner with the MCORE Foundation to provide comprehensive cardiac screenings for students, giving families an additional tool to help detect hidden heart conditions before they become life-threatening.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is one of the leading causes of death among young athletes and can occur without warning—even in children and teens who appear completely healthy. Unlike a heart attack, SCA is caused by an electrical malfunction of the heart, making early detection critical.

While annual sports physicals are an important part of participation, they are not designed to identify many of the heart abnormalities that can place young people at risk. That's where cardiac screening can make a significant difference.

Screening Information
Date: Monday, August 10, 2026
Time: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Location: Brunswick High School Training Room (Across from the Gym)
Suggested Donation: $79
Each screening includes:
Electrocardiogram (ECG)
Limited echocardiogram performed by a registered cardiac sonographer
Results interpreted by pediatric cardiologists
Approximately 10–12 minutes per screening
Secure online access to screening images for future reference

Why Consider a Cardiac Screening?
Many heart conditions that can lead to Sudden Cardiac Arrest show no symptoms and may go undetected during a routine physical examination. Cardiac screening provides families with valuable information and peace of mind by helping identify underlying abnormalities before an emergency occurs.
