The countdown is on for Brunswick High’s first-ever Battle of the Grades girls flag football tournament, and the excitement is off the charts. After a wave of student interest, the event is officially happening, thanks to the leadership of Carissa Stainkiewics and Ari Seink, who helped bring the idea to life.
Sign-ups and waiver forms are now available in the athletic office. Every
participant must turn in a waiver signed by a parent or guardian by Tuesday, October 14th at 10:00 AM — no exceptions.
The games will take place on Wednesday, October 22nd, at Brunswick Auto Mart Stadium. The field opens for warm-ups at 6:00 PM, followed by three thrilling matchups: 9th grade vs. 11th grade at 6:30 PM, 10th grade vs. 12th grade at 7:30 PM, and the championship game at 8:30 PM between the winners of the first two rounds. Practices will be organized by team leaders and coaches, not the athletic department.
Students and families are encouraged to attend and cheer on their peers. Instead of paid admission, the event will collect canned goods and non-perishable items to support the local food pantry, a great way to give back while showing school pride.
But above all, the event will be held to the highest standards of conduct. Only athletes and coaches will be allowed on the track and field, and all district and high school dress code and behavior expectations will be strictly enforced. This is not just a game; it’s a reflection of what it means to be a Blue Devil. Respect, responsibility, and sportsmanship are non-negotiable. Whether you're playing or cheering, you're representing your school, and that means showing up with pride and integrity.
So get ready for a night of competition, community, and character. The Battle of the Grades is more than a football game; it’s a celebration of what makes Brunswick strong.
