Brunswick, Ohio — The Brunswick High School Men’s Soccer Team beat the Berea-Midpark Titans 4-0 in a non-conference showdown on Saturday. Brunswick’s record improves to 8-2-3. Berea-Midpark’s record falls to 1-7-3. Brunswick continues to lead the all-time series between the schools, 4-2-1.
In the first half, neither time was able to gain an advantage on the scoreboard, as both defenses were well-organized and physical. Heading into the break, Brunswick did hold a 11-2 shots edge including 5-0 on goal. Brunswick also out-cornered Berea-Midpark 5-0.
In the second half, some tweaks to the system paid immediate dividends as senior midfielder and captain Vic Lazar rifled a shot that snuck in past Carbel Aoun at the near post for the 1-0 lead. The goal came just 57 seconds into the second stanza.
As the half went on, Brunswick pushed for the insurance goal and they found it in the 64th minute from Miroslav Milanovic. The senior midfielder and captain corralled a save off a shot from Owen Beskid before calmly placing it into the net for the 2-0 lead.
After the second goal, the flood gates opened as Brunswick would score two more goals in the next five minutes. The first was finished off by sophomore Carter Trexler who touched in a looping cross from junior defender Kaden Tibbs. A brilliant finish from Beskid finished off the scoring with 11:14 remaining. Sophomore Ryan Dick made the assist on the play.
Tibbs was named Man Of The Match for his dominant display in the back line leading the team to a clean sheet in tonight’s victory. Coach Dotson was very pleased with the junior defender. “Kaden moved inside tonight and kept us well organized and disciplined. I thought he was fantastic all night.
Senior goalkeeper and captain Eli Hyde made fives in the win. He earned his seventh clean sheet of the season and his record stands at 8-2-3. Aoun took the loss despite making six saves.
The clean sheet for Hyde was the 28th of his career, which ties him for first-place all-time with current goalkeeping coach, Gavin Leindecker, class of 2017.
Brunswick next plays on September 30th, when they travel to Strongsville for a GCC match up. Kick-off is scheduled for 7pm at Foltz Fields.
