Two of Brunswick High School’s top boys’ basketball players are officially taking their talents to the college game. Sean Barnett has committed to Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida, while Trey Drexler has announced his commitment to Indiana University–Indianapolis (IU Indianapolis).
Sean Barnett – Flagler College
Barnett, a versatile guard known for his toughness and his outside shooting ability, has been a steady presence for the Blue Devils throughout his varsity career. His combination of size, strength, and basketball IQ has made him a matchup problem in the Greater Cleveland Conference. By committing to Flagler — an NCAA Division II program competing in the Peach Belt Conference — Barnett will join one of the most competitive small-college leagues in the country while pursuing both academic and athletic growth.
“Sean has worked extremely hard to develop his game,” Brunswick head coach Joe Mackey said. “He’s a great teammate, a leader in our locker room, and Flagler is getting a player who’s ready to make an immediate impact.”
Trey Drexler – IU Indianapolis
Drexler, a dynamic guard who surpassed the 1,000-point career mark early in his high school career, was one of Northeast Ohio’s most electrifying scorers this past season. Averaging over 20 points per game while creating opportunities for teammates, he earned all-conference and all-district honors and consistently delivered in big moments for the Blue Devils.
By committing to IU Indianapolis, Drexler will take his high-scoring, playmaking style to the NCAA Division I level. IU Indianapolis — competing in the Horizon League — offers Drexler a chance to impact a program on the rise.
“Trey’s competitiveness and love for the game are unmatched,” said Coach Mackey. “He’s spent countless hours in the gym, and it’s exciting to see him rewarded with an opportunity to play Division I basketball.”
Pride for Brunswick Basketball
Barnett and Drexler’s commitments mark another proud moment for the Brunswick basketball program, showcasing the development, work ethic, and talent that have become hallmarks of Blue Devil basketball.
“Our goal is to help players reach their potential — on and off the court,” Coach Mackey said. “Seeing Sean and Trey achieve their dream of playing college basketball is incredibly rewarding for our entire program.”
